MCN Motorcycle Show London 2023
Dear All,
Here are the highlights from last week’s MCN Motorcycle Show in London’s Excel. It’s not like the Milan or Cologne shows, which ooze glitz, glamour and style. It was predominantly a spit-and-sawdust show with many stands selling off predominantly cheap crap. You’ve got to forget the fact that there was no carpet between the stands and a massive, yet totally unnecessary runway down the middle. You’ve also got to stop living in the past, while relating it to the amazing days of the 1980s/90s where we’d all go to Ally Pally for the Road and Race Exhibition, in which you’d see a heaving show with lots of exotic bikes (God damn it, I miss those days).
I say all this because if you went to see the bikes, there was actually everything necessary to give you a good idea of what’s coming next year to a showroom near you. For that, and in fairness some stands doing a great job of selling some really neat kit, it’s worth going. Seeing which bikes are on offer in auction is also a treat, especially if you’re a collector, or indeed own the same bike(s) as the ones being auctioned, just to get an idea of its value, if nothing else.
So, all told, I actually enjoyed taking a bit of time to walk around. I know the world’s a bit off-piste at the mo, but at least we all still have a clear love of bikes. Long may it continue.
Peace out,
Roy
