NEC Motorcycle Live Show - The UK's Biggest Motorcycle Show!

I always have trouble going to the NEC Motorcycle Live Show. The problem is twofold. First, I’ve already seen all that there is to see, both with motorbikes and accessories, in Cologne and Milan over the previous months. Secondly, at the European shows, there aren’t vendors there, just pure exhibitors, yet the NEC show is littered with companies selling end-of-line goods, therefore turning it into Wembley market and cheapening the industry. I hate to say it, but were you to take away the retailers, you’d have not-even half the show to walk around.

As with all these things though, every cloud has a silver lining and to that end, some manufacturers were showing some very interesting product worthy of serious consideration. In no particular order…..

Norton have launched the Norton Atlas, an 84hp, 650cc twin at a very reasonable price, considering its quality. It’s a limited edition model and sure to impress…

Peugeot had a concept bike on their stand which looked really squat and purposeful. Be good to see if it makes production…

Arch Motorcycles had a model on the Krazy Horse stand, as they’re importing them and, even at £85,000, seemed to attract attention, not to mention raise the profile of Krazy Horse’s area. Who’d have thought that Keanu Reeves could collaborate with someone to make something that beautiful?...

CCM had some really lovely colour schemes and variations of their CCM Spitfire models. Great to see those guys expanding into something so relevant and cool. They’ve even made a Carl Fogarty limited edition…

Herald Motorcycles were sporting some new and frankly stunning Brut 500cc singles for the first time. I love it when a Chinese made bike starts to up its game and I think it’ll be taken seriously, and possibly sell well. Who doesn’t love a 500 single?...

Yes, there was the new Yamaha Tenere 700, plus other stuff to see and sit on, but nothing of real relevance that I didn’t mention in my previous 2 blogs.

Anyway, that’s hopefully it for show season for while.

Catch you soon,

Roy
