Handguards: Vanity or Sanity?

Handguards: Vanity or Sanity?

Picture the scene…. it’s autumn, your hands (& other bits too) are getting somewhat chilled by the changing climate and your extremities are always the first ones to be affected. So, you wear thicker clothing, but that doesn’t deflect the wind, just barrier it to an extent. For your hands (which are jolly important for a variety of reasons), you can fit heated grips, but they only warm your palms, rather than the whole hand.

A good set of handguards, however, deflect wind and rain, and to that end, we sell a range of them that do what you need them to for the ensuing cold spell. Now, our handguards can be split up into two categories; ones that are for adventure and street bikes, and the others for motocross/supermotos/enduros.

The first style of handguards have built-in LEDs, which can be chosen and white LEDs, acting as daytime running lights, or amber LEDs which can be used as supplementary indicators. They’re made out of thick, vibration absorbing plastic and are very hard-wearing and durable, protecting your hands and bodywork in a fall (to an extent, of course).

The second style of handguards (motocross, etc) are steel-spined and much more utilitarian, ideal for off road use, as they’ll take the harder knocks and can easily be replaced. They also deliberately sit closer to your hands.

Both types are really well priced and we carry a good inventory of these pretty-much all the time. They all come in a range of colours too, in case you’re looking to go with a themed look. I’ve long given up trying to focus on just a few colours that I think will sell, so we pretty-much sell the lot.

To fit them is very easy; you don’t necessarily need to wire in the LED handguards, if you just like the look of them, without having to splice wires into their relative looms. We also sell fatbar clamps, in case the standard clamps aren’t big enough.
